Rodney Dodge Obituary

Mr. Rodney K. Dodge, 59 of Schuyler, passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2025. Rodney was born on March 19, 1966, the son of Kenneth and Eleanor (Keyser) Dodge. He was raised locally, was a 1984 graduate of the Whitesboro Central School District and went on to pursue an associate's degree from Herkimer County Community College. On July 16, 1987, Rodney was united in marriage with Tina Countryman. Rodney worked many jobs throughout his life, most notably, his HVAC business, Dodge Home Heating & Cooling, LLC which he began in 2003. Rodney took great pride in his community, just like his father before him, proudly serving as Town Councilman for Schuyler. He was a long-standing member of the East Herkimer Sno-Riders, where he spent countless hours volunteering. He was always on hand for the Herkimer County Fair, and if there was a truck or tractor pull going on, Rodney was your guy. Of all his many accomplishments, nothing brought him more joy or love than his family. Rodney took the title of husband, father and grandpa ("Rot") very seriously. He was happiest spending time surrounded by family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. You could always count on him to lend a helping hand. Rodney made a lasting impact on everyone that knew him and his absence will be deeply felt. Rodney is survived by his beloved wife, Tina; his children, Lacey Dodge of Newport, Kelsey (Kyle) Rowlands of Marcy and Dale Dodge of Schuyler; his cherished grandson, Ezekiel Rowlands, who coined the name, "Rot"; brother, Ronald Dodge of Schuyler; two nephews and their families, Charles and Jennifer (Zoe, Olivia, Tyler) Dodge of Frankfort and Craig & Melissa (Jackson) Dodge of Westmoreland; his mother-in-law, Judy Countryman of Prospect and a special cousin, Diane (Bob) Zygmunt of Schuyler. He also leaves behind countless other family members who he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Eleanor Dodge; father-in-law, Dale Countryman and special cousins whom he thought of as his brothers, Duane, Darry and Dean Dodge. In keeping with Rodney's character, family and friends are respectfully invited to attend his celebration of life, this Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at his home at 249 Windfall Rd., Schuyler. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Kuyahoora Valley Ambulance Corps, Newport Fire Department or Schuyler Fire Department, as a thanks for all their help during the difficult time. Arrangements are entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., N. Utica

My condolences to his family. I worked with Rodey at Verizon and always thought of him as a great guy. I would run into him at RE Michel and always talk with him, and enjoy his stories. Dave Millbower

My thoughts and prayers are with you all today as you celebrate the life of Rodney - he was a wonderful guy and served the town well in the capacity of town councilman. My heart goes out to all of you on this special day, as you celebrate the life of your dear departed husband, father, brother, cousin, fellow town board member, and friend. I wish I could be with your family and friends today as you celebrate the life of a great guy, but I am currently incapacitated - laid up after suffering the results of a bad fall last night - plenty of bruises and I´m in a lot of pain, but luckily, no broken bones! Again, I am so sorry for your loss, and my heart goes out to you all in this difficult time. ... just know that Rodney is in a good place, he was a very kind soul and I will miss him so much at our town meetings. Fly high, Rod, we all will miss you so much, but we know your spirit will remain with all of us, and someday we will all be reunited in heaven.
