It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Sadie Marie Indiveri (Santamassino), who passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, at Utica Rehabilitation & Nursing Home, surrounded by loved ones. Sadie was 91 at the time of passing and is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Sadie was born on August 26, 1933, in Utica, NY, to Jennie and Anthony Santamassino. She graduated from Proctor High School in 1950.
Sadie is survived by her son, Joseph Indiveri; two daughters, Cindy Morelle and Carla (John) Odell, and her grandchildren, Christopher (Karla) Morelle, Jamie (Christopher) Faniglula, Jennifer Indiveri, John (Catherine) Odell, Austin (Olivia) Odell; her great-grandchildren, Johnny and Olivia Odell, and Julia Fiore. Richard Angelini Jr. was also considered a son by Sadie and was deeply loved and cherished by her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennie and Anthony Santamassino, and her fiancé, Richard "Mook" Angelini, whom she shared over twenty years with, along with her brother, Joseph (Linda) Santamassino; two nephews, Joey and Tony Santamassino; and her son-in-law, Joseph Morelle.
Sadie loved her family dearly and found great joy in hosting holiday celebrations, bringing everyone together around her table year after year. She cherished playing cards-a favorite pastime she lovingly passed down to her grandchildren, who will always remember learning from her. A wonderful cook, Sadie shared many recipes with her children and grandchildren, creating traditions that will carry on for generations, such as Christmas Eve celebrations and "Pepper Day". She also enjoyed the thrill of the racetrack and the fun of the casino, embracing life with a vibrant spirit and always seeking fun. Sadie will always be remembered for her impeccable style, her perfectly done hair, and her signature bright lipstick-a true reflection of her confidence, flair, and spunky personality.
A Memorial Mass will be held on April 21st at noon at Saint Mary of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish in Utica, NY. All friends and family are invited to celebrate Sadie's life.
Sadie's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated staff at Utica Rehab & Nursing Home for the exceptional care and kindness they showed to Sadie during her time there. We are especially thankful for Mary at reception, our wonderful friends in the rehab department, and the caring teams on the second and third floors; your support meant the world to us.
