Timothy M. DeGroat

Timothy M. DeGroat, 65, of Canastota, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Oneida Health Hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born April 16, 1960, in Oneida a son of the late LaVerne C. "Barney" and Betty L. (Palmer) DeGroat. In 1978, Tim graduated from Morrisville-Eaton High School (BOCES) and pursued a career as a Tool and Die Maker. On September 5, 1981, in the Peterboro United Methodist Church, he married Tena R. Henry. He worked as an electrician for a brief time, before starting a career of over 27 years at Die Tooling (Diemolding Corporation) and later Westmor Industries for 8 years, until issues with his health. He attended the Peterboro United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and was always looking for a project to work on and keep himself busy. His hobbies also included coin and movie collector and he loved to cook. Most of all, time spent with his family was at the top of his heart. Surviving are his wife, Tena; children, Melissa S. DeGroat (Lopez) of Canastota, Michael J. and Nancy (Everlith) DeGroat of Canastota, Kristie A. and Adam Fleischer of Harrisburg, NC; grandchildren, Amelia DeGroat of Canastota, Kellen and Adeline Fleischer of Harrisburg, NC; mother-in-law, Katherine Henry of Eaton; sister, Linda (Fred) Widger of Canastota and brother, Shawn (Connie) DeGroat of Canastota and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and In-laws. He was predeceased by a sister Bonnie M. Berry and his father-in-law, George E. Henry, Jr. Graveside services in Peterboro Cemetery will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00am. A celebration of Tim's life will continue immediately after at Linda and Fred's. In lieu of floral offerings, contributions in Tim's memory may be made to The American Cancer Society.
