William Morrow Obituary
William Robert "Bill" Morrow, 85, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma passed away on Friday,
September 20, 2024. He was born December 6, 1938 in Tishomingo to Robert Thomas and
Mary Belle Marshall Morrow. During his school years he worked as a projectionist at the movie
theater in Tishomingo beginning at the age of 14. In 1955 he won the Tishomingo Public
School's mathematics award. Bill graduated from Tishomingo High School in 1956 as the class
Salutatorian. In 1958 he graduated from Murray State College with an Associate Degree in
Science. After college he moved to Oklahoma City and was employed by the Oklahoma
Department of Transportation as a Draftsman.
On October 9, 1959, he married his childhood sweetheart and the absolute love of his life, Judy
Mae Callen, at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, Texas. They met on a blind date when
she was 15 and he was 19. Bill and Judy lived in Oklahoma City and he continued working for
ODOT. Three children were born to them: Gary Dale Morrow in 1960, Lea Ann in 1963, and
Clint in 1971. He also attended night school at Central University in Edmond, which prompted
their move there in 1967. Bill and Judy graciously shared their home with many family
members as they were seeking employment and housing in the OKC area. During his tenure at
ODOT, which spanned 35 years, Bill was promoted three times as Draftsman, three times as an
Engineer, then was promoted to Supervisor of the Internal Review Section which entailed
auditing land acquisition operations and expenditures within the department. Bill was a
Certified Internal Auditor and held a Real Estate Broker's license. He wrote over 500 computer
programs which were used in the early days of computer usage at ODOT. He retired in 1993 as
Right-of-Way Division's Assistant Division Manager. Bill and Judy graciously shared their
home with many family members as they were seeking employment and housing in the OKC
area. Bill and Judy moved back to Tishomingo, built their retirement home on the old Morrow
homeplace and looked after their parents. Bill was quiet, thoughtful, humble, pretty stubborn
and usually, the most intelligent person in the room (but he was modest about it!). His hobbies
were gardening, genealogy and he was a trivia master.
Bill is survived by his wife, Judy, of Tishomingo and son, Clinton, of Edmond; sisters-in-law,
Frances Morrow and JoAnne Callen; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by two children Gary Dale Morrow and Lea Ann Morrow; his
parents; sisters Virigina Bracken and Betty June Murray; and brother, Tom Morrow.
