Betty I. Wade

Betty Ione Staley Wade, 99, passed away peacefully Monday, September 8, 2025, in Galena, Illinois. Betty was a former resident of West Lafayette, Indiana. Betty was born July 3, 1926, in Olney, Illinois to William Earl Staley and Viven Elizabeth Smith Staley. Betty was united in marriage to Murray W. Wade, Jr. June 16, 1945, in Lawrenceville, Illinois. They were married for 48 years until Murray's passing March 6, 1994. She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church and was a graduate of Lawrenceville Township High School, Lawrenceville, Illinois and Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana earning a Master's degree. Betty was also a member and Treasurer of the 3 O'clock Club and a member of the Church Circle #1, and Treasurer of the Tippecanoe / Benton / Carroll RTA. She retired after 26 years as an Elementary School Teacher and for 11 years from University Place newsletter (Up Beat) and Sigma Kappa. She enjoyed collecting angels, magnets, reading, and embroidery work. In loving memory, Betty is cherished by her son, William F. (Lorie) Wade of Galena, Illinois; granddaughters, Loretta Haskell and Audrey (Josh) Damore; great grandchildren, Levi Damore and Gianna Grace Damore. Ceremonies to Celebrate Betty's life are Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 1pm graveside at Grand View Cemetery, 151 North Salisbury Street, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
