Beverly Dougherty

Beverly Dougherty Beverly Dougherty, 78, of Virginia Beach, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette with her family at her bedside. She was born on September 22, 1946 in Indianapolis to the late James A. and Margaret (Groff) Dougherty. Following high school, Beverly earned her Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Illinois University, and then her Master's Degree from the University of Miami. Her places of employment included Montamari Residential Treatment Center Counselor in Hialeah, Florida; University of Miami School of Medicine; Broward County Workforce Development; and, most recently, she served as Deputy Director for the City of Norfolk Workforce Development in Norfolk, Virginia. In her free time, Beverly enjoyed going to the beach, playing cards, and going on numerous adventures. More than anything, Beverly enjoyed being with family, as she was always the life of the party. Beverly is survived by her brother, James (Joanne) Dougherty of Hobe Sound, Florida; and sister, Janna S. (Bill) McAleer of Rensselaer, Indiana; brother-in-law, Larry Larimore; lifetime best friend, Lynda Fries; and furbaby, Teresa, her beloved golden retriever. She also leaves several cousins, nieces, and nephews to cherish her memory. In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia (James) Kenny and Judith Larimore.
