Carole Gilbert

Carole Jean Gilbert, 73, of Lafayette, died on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at IU Health Hospital in Lafayette, IN. She was born on January 19, 1952, in Barbourville, Kentucky to the late Cecil Gilbert and Barbara Gilbert (Hale). She was preceded in death by her sister, Cecilia, in 2009. Carole attended Jefferson High School in Lafayette, IN. Following high school, she began a career focused in payroll/human resources. While raising a family, she furthered her education at Purdue University. She was an avid Purdue Boilermaker Fan, especially Purdue basketball. She was passionate about animals and particularly loved wiener dogs! Carole was very patriotic and enjoyed the celebrations of the 4th of July. She also loved flowers, spending countless hours working in her flower beds and bird watching. More than anything, she loved her family. Her grandkids were dearest to her. She loved following all their activities. She very rarely missed any of them, traveling the state to watch them play softball, baseball, cheerleading and basketball. She made every holiday special for her grandchildren with her decorations and holiday themed games for them to play! Carole was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lafayette, IN. Her Faith was very important to her along with her Church Family. Carole also cherished her friends. Always looking forward to the next scheduled lunch date, concert or show to watch with them. Carole is survived by her sons, Brad Pedigo (Karen), Andy Pedigo (Ashley); daughter, Stacey; grandchildren, Ava, Hudson, Austin, Hagen, Lux. Visitation will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Friday, October 3rd from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., followed immediately by a funeral service at 1 with Pastor Kurt Freeman officiating.
