Gary Duane Mikels

Gary Duane Mikels, 69, of Lafayette, IN, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. He was born on April 8, 1956 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Dale and Rosemary (Haynes) Mikels. Gary graduated from Jefferson High School in 1974. On July 25, 1992, he married Melissa Pearson in Lafayette. Gary worked for Purdue University as a mechanic for 35 years before retiring in 2020. He was a member of American Legion Post 11 and enjoyed riding his Harley, drag racing, bowling, and hunting. Surviving are his wife, Melissa Mikels of Lafayette; his sons, Travis Jay Mikels (Celina Paxton) of Boswell and Travis Duane Mikels (Jessica Whitus) of Lafayette; and his brother, Steve (Sue) Mikels of Floyds Knob. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Wyatt, Wednesday, and Kimura. He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Clifton. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 2 to 5 p.m. at American Legion Post 11.
