Gerry Allen Obituary

Gerry Leroy Allen, age 80, formerly of Monon, died 12:58 PM Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Indiana Veterans Home. He was born in Monon, July 12, 1945 to Robert J Allen and Geraldine Wentz Allen. He was a 1964 graduate of North White High School. On May 24, 1969 he married Martha "Penny" Jacoby at the First Baptist Church, Monon and she survives. Gerry worked at Monon trailer 37+ years. He was a member of Monon First Baptist Church and served in the Army doing two tours in Vietnam from 1964 to 1968. He was a former Member of the Monon Volunteer Fire Dept. & enjoyed golf, woodworking and his dog Dort. Surviving with Penny is a daughter: Suzanne Ferguson (husband Claud) of Lafayette, son Bob (wife Karen) of Sellersburg, Indiana, and son Brad of Dayton Indiana. Also surviving is a sister: Violet Hughes (husband Don) of Idaville and two brothers: Francis (wife Karen) of Sharpsville and Robert (wife Arnetta) of Monon. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Gerry was proceeded in death by five brothers: Russ, Harley, Mark, Danny and Monty and three sisters Catherine, Barbara and Ginny. Friends may call from noon until time of service at 1 PM Sunday, September 28, 2025 at First Baptist Church, Monon, with Pastor Jeff Scheffee officiating. Cremation will follow with burial at Indiana Veterans Home Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Monon, Indiana Hippensteel Funeral Home is honored to serve the Allen family
