Gladys Edwards Obituary

Gladys Rose (Black) Edwards, 91, of Lafayette passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025 at her residence. She was born on July 4, 1934 in Lafayette to the late Earl and Julia (Morgan) Black. Gladys graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School, and was married to John Byron Edwards on June 5, 1954 in Lafayette. John preceded Gladys in passing on January 11, 2019. Gladys worked for Monticello Spring Factory for over 20 years, and was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Monticello. She was a very hard worker and extremely devoted to her family. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Cathy Whitaker; son, John Edwards II; sister, Pat Travis; grandchildren, Jason (Tracie) Whitaker, Shawn (Stephanie) Whitaker, and Tyler (Megan) Marquie; and great grandchildren: Alisa, Dakota, Jocelyn, Nathan, Bradley, Oliver, Hayden, and Milo. In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by several siblings. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8th from 9-10 a.m. at Hippensteel Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately following at 10 a.m. Gladys will then be laid to rest at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
