Joyce Williamson Obituary

Joyce Williamson, of West Lafayette, passed away surrounded by love and friendship, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, warmth, and unforgettable sass. Married to the late James L. Williamson, Joyce and Jim built a good life together-one filled with family, love and adventure. Jim preceded her in death in 2019, and though she missed him dearly, she carried on with that same spunky spirit that made her so beloved. A devoted homemaker, Joyce poured her heart into raising their children and creating a family life that was strong, joyful, and full of memories. Vacations were a cherished tradition, and year after year the Williamsons could be found at Indiana Beach, making memories that will be treasured for generations. Joyce had a sense of humor as sharp as it was unexpected-you never knew what would come out of her mouth, but you could be certain it would leave you laughing. Beneath her sass was a heart of pure gold; she never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel at home in her presence. She had a lifelong love for Elvis, and one of her most tender moments in recent years came when she met an Elvis look-alike at the nursing home-a surprise that moved her to tears. Originally from Chicago, Joyce and Jim relocated to West Lafayette about 15 years ago. They quickly fell in love with the area and decided to make it their forever home. After Jim's passing, Joyce became part of the family at Cumberland Pointe, where her humor, kindness, and warmth made her a friend to all. The friendships she formed there brought her comfort, laughter, and light in her later years. She is survived by her children: Leslie (Rolly) Reinhart of North Aurora, IL; Erin (Dan) Adams of West Lafayette; James (Sarah) Williamson of Wilmington, IL; and Kathleen (Derek) Gilbey of West Sacramento, CA. She was a proud grandmother to Erin Reinhart and Kyle and Corey Adams. She is also survived by her siblings, Judie Stahnke (the late Harold) of Riverside, IL, and Sandy (Joe) Tomaska of Dyer, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents Jean and Edward Rudd, and her brother Larry Rudd (Mary). Those who knew Joyce will always remember her for her quick wit, infectious laughter, and her ability to brighten any room. She lived life with humor and heart, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Joyce has joined our Lord in Heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

Yesterday

Joyce had the best stories! She couldn´t wait to tell me the next time she saw me.
She also cracked me up with how much she´d yell at people on tv and challenge their intellect.

She LOVED her grandchildren and always treated me as one of her own. I´m glad my babies got to meet and spend time with her. I miss her already, her memories live on!
