Larry Davies

1950 - 2025

Larry Lee Davies, age 74, of Lafayette, IN, passed away on April 14, 2025, after 15 years of battling heart disease. He was born November 14, 1950, in Lafayette, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents; Martha and George Davies, as well as his two brothers Richard Davies and Max Davies. Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Davies, his daughter Amber (Randy) Johnson, his "adopted" son Mark (Bessy) Thomas, and his beloved dog, Bear. He grew up in Lafayette, attending Lafayette Jefferson High School where he lettered in multiple sports, including football, wrestling, and cheerleading. He graduated from Jeff in 1970 and went on to attend Purdue University where he majored in Physical Education with a minor in Industrial Education and Health, graduating in 1974. Upon graduation from Purdue, Larry began working at East Tipp Junior High School, where he taught and coached multiple sports, including football, track, and wrestling. He enjoyed working with the kids and taking his daughter Amber to many of the school's games. He built many long-lasting connections with his students throughout his years at East Tipp. After leaving Education, Larry went on to have a successful career in Supervision and Management within manufacturing and later as a Senior Facilities Manager at Purdue University. Larry enjoyed socializing with his friends and neighbors, always happy and cheerful. He enjoyed using his vast knowledge on building and home improvements to help others with their home projects, yard work, or snow removal. He was a favorite fixture in his neighborhood being recognized as the neighborhood grandpa and the hub of connectivity. He was beloved by all those that had the opportunity to get to know him. A celebration of life visitation will be held on May 2, 2025 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at East End Grill, 1016 Main Street, Lafayette, IN.
