Sarah Parr Corley

Sarah Parr Corley, 90, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 12:31am.

She was born on February 2, 1936 in Crawfordsville to the late Howard Bridges "Radio" and Annabelle Parr Myers, and grew up on their farm in Putnam county, near Fincastle. She proudly graduated from Roachdale High School where she was Valedictorian of her class and the Drum Major. She went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Home Ec from Purdue, and was a sorority sister at Kappa Alpha Theta, and gained many lifelong friends there.

Sarah was employed as the secretary at McCutcheon High School for a short time where she became famous for delivering her "edited" version of the morning announcements and occasionally calling her children to the principal's office, to their chagrin, and for interacting with all of her "kids," as she referred to every student in the building, many of whom also called her "Mom". She was then employed at Eli Lilly as secretary and also became editor of the Eli Lily newspaper for over 20 years. The staff looked forward to reading her humorous and inventive editorial articles.

Being born on Ground Hog's Day was always a source of amusement to Sarah, and colored her personality. Always up for some fun, her favorite holiday, as everyone became fully aware over the years, was April Fools Day, where she enjoyed pranking every soul she knew, waking them (earlier and earlier every year) with outrageous stories of her plight, and needing their immediate action, with world-shattering consequences. She always enjoyed and loved the company of a close circle of friends and their endless adventures and shenanigans, and there wasn't a soul in town (or the world, for that matter) that she didn't become fast friends with, with her buoyant and outgoing personality. "Parr" "just loved" everyone.

Surviving are her children, Annie Parr Corley of Norco, CA and David Myers Corley of Lafayette. Also surviving is her niece, Jane Bailey.

She is preceded in death by her dear sister, Janet (John) Harless, a nephew, Johnny, and her lifelong best friend, Alice Ann Martin.

Sarah will be laid to rest with her family at Brick Chapel Cemetery in Greencastle.
