Susan Simpson Obituary

Susan K. Simpson, 67 of Galveston, Indiana, passed away Sunday morning, September 7, 2025, in Community Howard Regional Hospital. Born June 12, 1958, in Kokomo, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Betty (Smith) and Carl Don Auten. Susan didn't just cook-she loved through food. At Waterford Place where she worked as a culinary chef, she brought comfort and care. Her baked goods and decorated cakes made people feel special. She had a gift, and she used it every day to care for others. Her home reflected her warmth: filled with thriving plants, antiques, and the laughter of euchre games - she played to win. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren, and her loyal dog Oakley. Surviving is her boyfriend for over 25 years, Gary Stiner, three children: Gayla (Mark) Silvers, Donna (Randy) Silvers, and Brad (Brittany Denny) Simpson; two brothers, Carl (Debra) Auten, and Gary Auten; grandchildren: Jesse Silvers, Lindsey Reed, Collin Silvers. Nevaeh McKee, Joscelin Silvers, Mason Silvers, Kassie Stout, Kelsie Smoot, Randy Silvers, Cali Simpson, Charles Simpson, and CJ Simpson; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Sherry Mince. A celebration of life will be held Saturday September 13, 2025, from 12p.m. to 5 p.m. at 531 West Washington St. Galveston, IN 46932. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fisher Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services. You may share memories and offer condolences on her Tribute Wall at www.fisherfuneralchapel.com
