A beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, and great grandmother, Emily Ann Wiseman passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024, surrounded by her treasured family members.
Emily was born November 3, 1940, in New York City, New York. She was raised in the Roman Catholic faith and attended Catholic schools for most of her academic years. She married Albert Dale Wiseman on December 4, 1963, in New York City, New York. The couple had five beautiful children together.
Emily's father was a Chef in New York City, at many esteemed establishments including the Palm, and Longchamps at 423 Madison. He taught her how to cook, mostly Italian cuisine, but once she met her husband, he requested that she learn his mother's recipes. Emily accepted the challenge and she learned how to cook all of his family's "southern" recipes. Emily's mother was an amazing seamstress for a famous fashion designer in New York City and she made all of Emily's clothes growing up, through Catholic school, from first holy communion to confirmation, until she graduated high school. While at home with her family, Emily learned to sew extremely well from her mother, a skill that she carried with her. Later in life, she used that skill to make dresses, outfits, and blankets for her daughters and granddaughters, all with a custom tag "Made with love by Mom" or "Made with love by Grandma."
The family lived in Wilmington, Ohio for most of the children's youth. As they grew older, Emily decided to get her real estate license and she worked at Borton McDermott Realty as a real estate agent, but she always relished her full-time career as a housewife and mother.
Al and Emily purchased multiple houses and commercial buildings and converted them into apartments and homes. Emily managed and leased 110 rental units and houses and handled these with ease. She also managed all of the accounting for multiple family businesses and endeavors throughout the years. In 1992, the family bought a winter home in Florida. Emily moved to Florida full-time in 1993, where two of her children still reside, along with three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Outside of her career, Emily had rich and varied interests. She traveled extensively, covering 6 continents, 25 countries and 47 states. She loved to cook, and was published in numerous cooking magazines, including Bon Appetit. She was a fabulous photographer. She loved taking photos of her children, flowers, butterflies, birds, and her garden vegetables. She would develop and enlarge them in her own dark room. A garden club member for over 20 years, she could often be found in her garden cultivating vegetables, or hand-picking berries to make preserves, which she would can and preserve them and share them with so many. She was publicly recognized for many of her endeavors; she was a canning grand champion sweepstakes winner two times in a row, a multi-blue-ribbon winner in photography at the fair, and she was featured in national publications. She also loved to dance, and you could rest assured at any wedding or party she was on the dance floor dancing and smiling, waiting for a "twist" challenge! Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family and spending time with her 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, as well as her 19 furry "grand-pets" - 10 dogs, 7 cats, and 2 horses.
Emily dedicated her life to her family. They were all her top priority, and her love for them was unparalleled. She often expressed this love through facetime calls, texts, and emails, and the time she spent with each of her loved family members. She always was available to talk or text and she was the best listener and advice giver. She truly was the glue that kept everyone together, the mama bear, the matriarch, and the dancing queen. These are titles that she earned and loved the most.
Emily's warm presence, caring nature, and witty sense of humor left an undeniable mark on all who knew her. Her passing leaves a void in many hearts, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her laughter, her dance moves, her jokes, her zest for life and her ability to make everyone feel important and cherished will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
Emily is survived by the father of her children, Al Wiseman, of Tarpon Springs, FL; her children, who were her pride and joy, Kenneth Wiseman (Nancy) of San Diego, CA, Kevin Wiseman (Karen) of Norris, TN, Allen Wiseman (Sherry) of Tarpon Springs, FL, Sandy Rule (Neal) of Tampa, FL, and Jaime Cole (Steve) of Verona, OH; her cherished grandchildren Tom, Rachel, Kristina, Sean, Amanda, Alex, Nikki, Hannah, Steven, and Katie; and her beloved great-grandchildren Brandtley, Colten, Jaxon, RJ, and Nick. She is preceded in death by her father Giovanni (John) Motta and her mother Mary Louise Cristina of New York, NY, as well as her father-in-law Samuel Wiseman and her mother-in-law Rosa Faye Wiseman of Duncan, OK.
