Frances Elizabeth Wade, age 87, of Sabina, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. Born on March 10, 1938, in South Solon, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Temple Poplin. On March 7, 1958, she married Robert Lee Wade who preceded her in death on December 13, 2018.
Frances was a 1956 graduate of Midway High School. She was a wonderful homemaker and hostess and enjoyed sewing, crafting, cooking and going to auctions. Frances especially liked exchanging letters with her pen pals all over the country and spending time with her four-legged grandson, Banjo.
Survivors include her children, Robbie Gillman and Melvin (Karen) Wade; her grandchildren, Amber (Edward) Kinsey, Stephen (Amber) Clark, Spencer Clark, Maria (Josh) Sexton, and Joseph Gillman; great-grandchildren, Bryland Kinsey, Colten Kinsey, Aubriella Kinsey, Ezekiel Sexton and Pheonix Clark. Also surviving is her brother, Steve Poplin and his wife Sue along with her adopted family, the Shoemaker's and host of friends.
In addition to her parents, and loving husband, Frances is preceded in death by her brothers, Roger, Norman and James; her sisters, Wilma and Mary and son in-law, Harry Gillman.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in the Summers Funeral Home with John Lauffer officiating, burial to follow in the Bethel Cemetery, Range Township. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, the evening before the service from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
