After graduating from "THE" Ohio State University College of Medicine, he enlisted into the United States Navy, serving from 1967-1973 and was honorably discharged as a LCDR.

In 1974 he settled with his family and began his medical career in family practice. Dr. Schefsky continued to practice until he retired in 2018.

He was preceded by his parents; his daughter, Anne Marie; foster son, Barry Fox; sister, Marsha (Jeanie) Laile; and his wife Alaine M. Schefsky.

He is survived by his sons, Bradley M. Schefsky, of Lock Haven, Pa.; Marc D. Schefsky and fiancé Lori Harding, of Hughesville, Pa.; daughter, Lori S., and husband Michael Johnson, of De Leon Springs, Fla.; twin sister, Thelma (Aunt T) Ledford of Blanchester, Ohio; sister, Mary Lou Reindel of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Jordan S. Johnson of Florida; Lauren A. and Kathryn A. Schefsky of Pennsylvania, and Autumn A. Johnson of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Our Mom and Dad always opened their house and arms to anyone and everyone. It never mattered who or what you were.

They also knew how to throw a party! There will be a celebration of life held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21 at The Center at Deltona, 1640 Dr. M.L.K. Blvd., Deltona, FL 32725. As always, all are welcome and wear something Ohio State if you have it.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in memory of his daughter, Anne Marie, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thompson Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.

He was the best dr I ever went to. Informed. Concerned. And took the time with you to explain till you understood and all your questions were answered. Showing that he cared. HE is surely missed and thank you for giving me the opportunity to say so. As ever , Jean crawford

So sorry for the Schefsky family´s loss. I had the pleasure of serving with "Dr. Harve" at the Millington Naval Hospital. He was a great, caring physician and friend. He served as a mentor for this young Corpsman with patience, humility, humor and great expertise! Rest In Peace Doc, Rest In Peace.

This is late sorry, just today Nov. 11, my wife and I were wondering where Dr Schefsky was after he retired, we googled him and was directed to this website. We were in disbelief until we saw his picture. He was an exceptional Dr, I always trusted him as a doctor, but, I knew he cared when he found
out that I was not taking my medicine as prescribed, he gave me some words that I won't repeat but I came home and told my wife that he really cared about me as a person. You were blessed to have Dr Shefsky as a beloved family member.

Dr. Schefsky was our family physician since moving to Deltona in 1976. He was the most caring and compassionate person and we always felt safe under his care. We have missed him greatly since he retired and saddened by his passing. Sincere condolences to his family.
