Olive Hobbs Obituary

Olive Iona Hobbs, 88, of Clarksville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday afternoon, January 25, 2018 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.

She was born May 10, 1929 in Sturgeon, Kentucky, daughter of the late Howell Cobb and America (Sparks) Brewer. On April 21, 1947, she married Eugene W. Hobbs, who passed away November 16, 1999.

Iona was a faithful member of Sligo Baptist Church for over 60 years.

Surviving are her children, Pamela (Steven) Bradley, Donna (John) Barton, Peggy (Larry) Barton, Jeffrey (Pamela) Hobbs, and Mark Hobbs; nine grandchildren, Tammy Cranmer, Gregory Barton, Kelly Walker, Kevin Barton, Danielle Eades, Brock Bradley, Daniel Hobbs, Thomas Hobbs, Madison Hobbs; great-grandchildren, Alexandria (Luke) McSurley, Luke Walker, Abigail Cranmer, Brady Barton, Morghan Eades, Avery Cranmer, Cole Engle, Shannon Eades, Camryn Barton, Blaine Engle, Kennedy Eades, Conner Barton, Matt (Shelby) Walker, Brenna Eades, Paige Barton, Mackenzie (Jeffrey) Walker, Aidan Eades, Liam Eades, Bo Bradley, Brett Bradley, Jayden Hobbs, Coralei Hobbs, Liora Hobbs; two great-great-grandchildren on the way; brother-in-law, David "D.D" Hobbs; and sister-in-law, Pat Cornett.

In addition to her parents and husband, Iona was preceded in death by her brothers, Urban Brewer, Austin Brewer and Theodore Brewer; and sisters, Georgia Brewer, Mary McGeorge, Ruby Wilson, Beryl Hollingsworth, Clarance Taylor, Norma Bennett and Pearl McCollum; and brother-in-law, Jack Hobbs.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 30 at Sligo Baptist Church with Pastors Ryan Hysell and Jack Creditt officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinton County Memory Gardens, Wilmington.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Monday, January 29 at the Sligo Baptist Church.
