Richard (Rick) Lewis Corwin, 71, of Eldon, Missouri passed away Monday, May 10, 2021, at his home.
He was born December 25, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, a son of Thomas Ewing and Azalea Agnes (Louiso) Corwin.
He was a graduate of Clinton-Massie High School in Clarksville, Ohio.
On September 27, 1969, Richard was united in marriage to Judith Ann (King), who survives at their home. Rick and Judy were devoted to one another as well as to their children, grandchildren, and extended family.
Rick served in the National Guard. He worked as a lineman for Cincinnati Gas and Electric from 1970 to 1978 and for Union Electric/Ameren UE from 1984 until his retirement in 2010.
Rick was a devout Catholic Christian his entire life, building a legacy of faith for his entire family. Rick could often be found in the early mornings reading his bible or quietly praying. As a Christian, Rick embodied what it means to love your neighbor as yourself. Among all who knew him, Rick was known for his selfless sacrifice to his family and neighbors.
A man who rarely sat still, Rick would jump at the chance to help a neighbor or friend with a project, remodel a house for a family member, or attend baseball practices and games with his grandson.
He loved fixing things and was a jack-of-all-trades. Even though he was retired, there was nothing retired about Rick's life. His sons and daughters would often call dad to ask how to do something only to find him showing up soon after to help out. Rick loved to hunt, especially with his sons, daughters, and grandchildren. He spent a great deal of time outdoors, and he loved his shop.
His family and friends will remember Rick as a man of quiet strength, humility, and integrity. He was a gentleman, a caregiver to all, and a helpful and generous spirit.
In addition to his wife of over 51 years, survivors include two sons, William Todd Corwin (Staci) and James Ewing Corwin (Joy); two daughters, Teresha Nycole Weinkein (Eric) and Jerri LeAnn Groves; three brothers, Ronnie Corwin, Tommy Corwin, and Nick Corwin; one sister, Anita O'Connor; and five grandchildren, Sloane Weinkein, Sabrina Corwin, Ainsley Corwin, Tucker Groves and Rile Groves.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Azalea Corwin; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Juanita King.
Friends will be received from 9-11 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2021 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 540 N. Mill St., Eldon, Missouri, where Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Fr. Callistus C. Okoroji officiating.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in the Brown General Baptist Church Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri.
