Joshua Posey, 23, died Tuesday May 2, 2017 in Austin Texas. He was born July 19, 1993 at Yokota AFB in Japan, the son of Ken & Kathy Posey. He attended the University of Arkansas for 3 semesters and graduated from The Woodlands High School in 2011.
During his grade school years in San Antonio he enjoyed singing in the church choir and held many lead roles as well as playing in the church bell choir in Herndon VA. Throughout those same years, he was very active in Cub Scouts and eventually Boy Scouts, and was the recipient of The Order of the Arrow in Oak Hill Virginia. Josh loved music and was a percussionist during middle school as well as taking piano lessons for several years. He was on the Varsity Swim team at The Woodlands as well as a member of the USA club team TWST for 4 years. Josh loved fitness; hiking, running, indoor rock climbing, yoga and weight lifting were among his favorite activities. Josh had a smile that could light up a room and a unique wit that could always lift your spirits. He will be remembered for his kindness and his unique way of listening and connecting with everyone.
Josh is survived by his parents Ken & Kathy Posey of The Woodlands; his brother Chris, currently attending University of Missouri and living in Columbia, MO. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Tim and Hilda Joy, of Portland, Oregon; and his paternal grandfather, Ed Posey of Tupelo, MS. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
We invite all that can, to attend the Memorial Service on Sunday, May 21st at 2:00 pm at Grace Presbyterian Church located at 8989 Woodlands Parkway, Spring, TX 77382. We ask that you dress casually and bright as that was his personality. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to one of the following nonprofit organizations:

I am very stunned and saddened to read of Josh's passing. I never actually met Josh, but was an online follower of him. As someone who is struggling with getting healthy and losing weight, I followed Josh on Instagram because he was very inspiring and encouraging. I noticed no posts from him since the end of April and decided to seek him out. When I came across his obituary, I was stunned. I am so very very sorry for your loss. Many thoughts and prayers are with Josh's family. Please know how inspiring he was, even to complete strangers.
