Robert Currie Obituary

It is with great sadness that Robert J Currie passed away on February 4, 2025. He lived a full 87 years. He was a father, brother, uncle, grandfather, mentor, role model and a friend. He had a profound effect on all of us, and his loss will be felt.

He valued education about all else and thought women could do anything. His proudest moments in the family were the graduation of all of his children with advanced degrees. He was a pillar with ExxonMobile for over 35 years. He enjoyed playing cards, bridge, pickleball, tennis and watching all University of Michigan Sports. His favorite colors are maize and blue. And of course, his favorite song was HAIL TO THE VICTORS!

His love of travel permeated his life. From his journeys within Exxon to his post-retirement safari travel, the world was his canvas to be painted. He is remembered as a loving father who imprinted critical values of honesty and hard work to achieve anything.

He is preceded in death by his father John and his mother Marjorie. He is survived by his wife Eileen LaMont Currie, his brother Jim, his sister-in-law Mary, and his brother-in-law Howard. He is blessed with four children Heather, Lisa, Michael and Christy, four step-children Roxanne, Kevin, Jackie, and Peggy, and their lovely spouses David, Liza, Damien, Patty and Mike. His is also survived by Teresita Santos Currie, the mother of his children. He is blessed with 10 grandchildren Cassandra, Rachel, Jake, Thea, Jessie, Nat, Nic, Bobby, Annabelle and Damien, and their spouses Jason and Ronny. He loved his family above all else.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Robert J Currie scholarship fund at the University of Michigan Law School, or Yes to Youth in the Woodlands.

Bob and Eileen were friends of my wife Kathy and me. I knew Bob from our working together at Esso Eastern and Exxon Coal and Minerals Co. He was a great friend and I always enjoyed our telephone visits in our retirement years. He and Eileen once visited Kathy and me at our Kerrville home. Bob was always upbeat, even when life was difficult. He was always so proud of his family. Our best wishes to Eileen and all the kin. You were very lucky to have Bop in your lives. He will be greatly missed.
