Abilio N. Neves

CENTRAL FALLS - Abilio N. Neves, 100 passed away on Thursday in Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Providence. He was the husband of Celeste (Diegues) Neves. They have been married for the past 64 years.
Born in Quiras-Vinhais, Portugal, he was the son of the late Anibal and Deolinda (Diegues) Neves. Mr. Neves came to this country in the early 1960's, settling in Central Falls.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland. And a longtime member of the Clube Juventude Lusitana, Cumberland.
Mr. Neves was a laborer and member of Local 271 of the Laborer's International Union of the Northeast for more than 50 years.
Beside his wife, he is survived by four children; Maria "Benilde" Pires of Lincoln; John Neves of Coventry; Anibal "Al" Neves of Exeter; and Juvelina Faustino of Cranston. Two brothers; Antonio Neves of Portugal and Jose Neves of Cumberland. Three sisters; Lurdes Neves of Cumberland, Lucia Gomes of Pawtucket and Alice Maldonado of Cumberland. Eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Vitorino Neves, Francisco Neves, Antonia Neves and Idalina Correia.
His funeral will be held on Monday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Cumberland.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours will be held on Sunday at 4 PM to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association of RI, 245 Waterman St # 306, Providence, RI 02906.
