Ann McWilliams Obituary

Ann M. McWilliams

MANVILLE - Ann M. (Wojcik) McWilliams, 85, of Manville RI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept 3, 2024 surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. She was the beloved wife of the late George A. Southiere and the late Charles A. McWilliams.

Born in Millville, MA, Ann was the daughter of the late John Wojcik and the late Mary (Szlosek) Wojcik. In 1957, she married George, with whom she raised a family of four in Woonsocket, RI. In addition to being an amazing mom, Ann worked in the accounting department for Mark Stevens (now CVS) in Woonsocket, RI until 1995. After George passed in 1991, Ann married Charlie in 1995 and moved to Sebring, FL to enjoy her retirement years.

Ann was a wonderful mom to her four kids, a mother figure to many others, and a friend to all she met. She was a devout communicant of St. James Church in Manville, RI. A child of Polish immigrants, Ann embraced and embodied her heritage and passed those values on to her family. She was an accomplished pianist who later transcribed sheet music into braille for other music lovers with vision loss. Her generosity and warmth was evident in every stitch of the many afghans she crocheted for loved ones. She was a lifelong avid reader and her competitive spirit in bowling, golf, solving puzzles and playing cards is evident in her legacy today. A tried and true Red Sox fan, Ann navigated the wins and losses of life (and the Sox) with grace and dignity, setting an extraordinary example for the many who looked up to her.

Ann is survived by her sister Margaret Keegan of Blackstone, MA and leaves behind three generations of loving family, including children Mary Ann Brunetti and her husband Carl of Manville, RI; Nancy Lamoureux of Woonsocket, RI; Dr. George Southiere Jr. and his wife Kathi York of North Attleborough, MA; David Southiere and his wife Renee of Newton, MA; and Chuck McWilliams of St. Croix, USVI. She was the proud Gramma of Michael, Lisa, Karen, Aaron, Jaclyn, Christopher, Alex, Lila, Trent, Sheila, Grace and Evan and she was the adoring Baba to Adalyn, Emma, Hailey, Ella, Hannah, Riley, Analine, Leah and Jacob.

Ann was predeceased by her sisters Mary Connell, Eleanor Brochu, Kathleen Mason; her brother John Wojcik; and stepdaughter Paula Lamoureux.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. James Church, Division St. in Manville. Burial will follow in St Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Monday 4-7 PM. Please visit www.fournierandfournier.com for guestbook and directions.
