Armand Glaude Obituary

MANVILLE - Armand W. "Lem" Glaude, 95, formerly Manville died Tuesday afternoon surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Fernande (Laliberte) Glaude. They were married in 1944 and shared over 56 years together until her passing in 2000.
Born in Woonsocket he was a son of the late Ovila and Verginie (Beausoleil) Glaude. He was raised in Woonsocket and resided in Manville since 1944. In recent years he lived in Greenville.
Mr. Glaude served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was in the 118th Combat Engineer Battalion of the 43rd Infantry Division. As a Combat Engineer in the Pacific Theater he saw active duty at Guadalcanal, Leyte Gulf, Luzon, Manilla, New Caledonia, New Zealand and New Georgia. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and American Service Medal.
Mr. Glaude was employed at Enterprise Dye Company in Woonsocket for over 36 years before retiring in 1981. In his younger years he worked in the local textile industry for several area firms including the Rochambeau Worsted.
Lem was a longtime communicant of St. James Parish in Manville and a member of L'Union de Priere. He was a member of the Alphonse Yelle Post 9 American Legion in Manville. For many years he worked as an assistant for the Menard Funeral Homes of Woonsocket and Manville. His love and devotion for his family is Lem's greatest legacy.
He is survived by a son Dennis A. Glaude and his wife, Roxanne, of Pascoag and a daughter Suzette F. Kennett and her husband, Donald, of Nasonville. He was the father of the late Ronald A. Glaude and brother of the late Omer, Patrick, Sylvio (who was killed in the invasion of Normandy, France during WWII), Lionel, Theodore and Marie Blanche Glaude. He is also survived by his grandchildren Rochelle, Danielle, Desiree, Dylan, Tricia, Dannielle and Kayla and great-grandchildren Aryana, Joey, Lyla and Jordan and many nieces and nephews and their families.
His funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 71 Central St. Manville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Visiting hours are Friday from 5-8 pm. www.menardfuneralhome.com

Dennis..Dad,Rich and myself were so surprised about your Dad's passing. We found out about it way too late to attend services so please accept our sincere condolences as you cope with your loss. He will surely be missed at all the meat raffles. He always brought a spark of joy when he attended them..your friends .. Henri Rich and Leo Houle

So sorry to hear of Uncle Armands passing. Our sympathy to Suzette, Dennis and their families. The last time I saw him he made me laugh with his funny stories. It brought back memories of the good old days in Manville. He will be missed.
