Arthur Smith Obituary

LINCOLN - Arthur T. Smith, 82, of Lincoln passed away Sunday at the Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of
Roberta A. (Greene) Smith, and they has been married for the past 58 years.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Albert and Sarah (McMahon) Smith. He resided in Lincoln for the past 32 years, previously residing in Narragansett and Cumberland.
Mr. Smith was a United States Marine, Korean War Veteran, he was awarded the purple heart when he was wounded from mortar fire during his service.
Art was employed as a Truck Driver for the McLaughlin and Moran Inc. of Cumberland for over 25 years until his retirement. He was the owner of "Coffee An' Service Inc." for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Ambrose Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Thomas Council, Cumberland and the American Legion, Post 14, Cumberland.
Besides his wife, he leaves his sisters, Doris Carroll of Attleboro, MA, Helen Doane of Westport, MA and Alberta Smith of Lincoln; 111 nieces, & nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great nephews. He was the brother of the late Albert Smith, James Smith, Frances Smith, Sally Hindersinn and Vera Smith.
A celebration of his life will be held Thursday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Ambrose Church, School Street, Albion. Burial with military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Wednesday, 4-7 PM.

So very sorry to hear about Arthur's passing. I worked with Arthur for many years at McLaughlin & Moran. I had many good memories from a company trip we had to New Orleans. Arthur was always a true gentlemen and a classy man. May he rest in peace.
