Barbara Anne Harkell

CLINTON, NY - Barbara Anne (Gaunt) Harkell, 86, of Clinton, NY passed away March 1, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in New Hartford, NY, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in
Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Clifton Edward Gaunt and Alice May (Hudson) Gaunt. She was formerly of Whitesboro, Scotia, and Clifton Park, NY; as well as Woonsocket, RI.
On May 20, 1955, she married M. William Harkell. They had four children: Kim McNamara of Clinton, NY; Dawn Woodward (Takao Kato) of Clinton, NY; Wm. S. Harkell of Tampa, FL; and Barbara Harkell (Alain Morlet), France.
Barbara loved to knit, crochet, and do needlework - skills that she happily taught to generations. She also enjoyed her backyard birds. Most of all, she loved spending time with her favorite (and only) grandson, Alexander Woodward.
She is survived by her four children, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jacob.
In her earlier years, our mother was a homemaker and spent time volunteering; later on she went to work and spent most of those years as a ward receptionist at Albany Medical Center. In recent years she enjoyed making and donating many of her hand-made items. She was very devoted to her faith.
