Bentley Tobin Obituary
Mr. Tobin attended City College at the City University of New York, served in the Army Air Force during WW II and graduated from Harvard University Law School in 1948. After practicing law in New York and Boston, Mr. Tobin joined the firm of Higgins & Silverstein in Woonsocket, RI, becoming senior partner in the 1970's. In 1983 the then firm of Tobin and Silverstein became partners with the firm of Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP in Providence. Mr. Tobin remained "of counsel" with that firm until his death. Mr. Tobin served a number of years on the Board of Directors of the Congregation B'nai Israel in Woonsocket. He was the chair of the Board of Trustees of Woonsocket (now Landmark) Hospital for 15 years, and served on the Planning Board of the City of Woonsocket and on the Rhode Island Commission on the Rhode Island Commission of Judicial Tenure & Discipline in the 1980's. Mr. Tobin, an avid golfer, was a member of the Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln for many years.
A graveside service will be held at B'nai Israel Cemetery on Mendon Road, Woonsocket, on June 4, 2015 at 2PM. Shiva will be private. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, RI. www.holtfuneralhome.com

I had the privilege of working for Bentley Tobin as a young associate in the 1970s. His professionalism and knowledge served as an excellent example for so many over the years. My condolences are with his family.

Thanks to all for your thoughts about my Dad. He was a remarkable man, and his kind and sweet soul shone through to the end. Beverly, sal marzilli I just returned from a little trip that I took with my family and I was so sad to hear about the death of Bentley very very sad I'm sorry I wasn't able to be here to pay my respects but truly a great man on a dear friend of my dads for years you seriously truly going to be lost and I hope to see you soon I give you and all of your family my condolences I know he's going to be missed greatly wonderful memories of the man thank you sal marzilli
