Burton Walker

LINCOLN - Burton Walker, 100, of Lincoln R.I., passed away on August 19, 2018 at Mount St Rita Health Centre. "Burt" was born in Ashton, Rhode Island, son of the late Alfred and Emily Walker. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Beatrice Walker. Burt is survived by a daughter, Diane Shea of Foxboro, Ma. and granddaughters Emily Shea and Mary Shea also of Foxboro, Ma.
Burt lived his childhood years in Woonsocket, R.I. He served in the army during WWII from 1941-1945 and married Beatrice Bonenfant of Haverhill, Ma. in 1945. Burt was a watch and clock repairer. He attended the New Jersey School of Watchmaking and the Wisconsin Institute of Horology, subsequently opening a business "Walker's Jewelry Store" in Cumberland, RI in 1954 and retired in 1979. He was active in the watch making community and served a term as president of the American Watchmaker's Association, Rhode Island Chapter.
During retirement Burt traveled with his wife Beatrice, enjoyed golf with friends, loved spending time with his granddaughters, and continued to repair timepieces in his home. Family services and burial were at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI.
