Carol R. Lachance

NORTH SMITHFIELD – Carol R. Lachance, 79, of North Smithfield, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at home surrounded by her family.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Roseanna (Provencal) Hawksley. She was a graduate of Woonsocket High School Class of 1956. She lived in North Smithfield for many years and also resided in North Attleboro and spent several years in the sunshine of West Palm Beach, Fla.

Carol worked at Woonsocket City Hall, Miller Electric and U.S. Rubber, and was employed for many years at Majestic Motors before retiring.

She was a volunteer with HomeFront Health Care and the North Smithfield Public Library and was a member of the North Smithfield Garden Club and the Glocester Senior Center. She was an active member of the Slatersville Congregational Church, where she was a member of the Pins & Needles group, crafting items for those in need. She enjoyed gardening.
Carol was in her happy place on a hot and sunny day at the beach and being anywhere near or on the ocean. She was an avid deep-sea fisherwoman.

Carol will be remembered as a hard-working woman who gave of herself to anyone in need and as a devoted mother who loved her family above all else.

She is survived by her children, Pamela Perron and her husband Roy, and David Lachance and his wife Mary, all of North Smithfield; Steve Lachance of Providence, and Cynthia Cindy Fasano-Arsenualult and her husband David of Harrisville. She was the sister of Edward Hawksley. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Muncy and her husband Mark, USN, Jeffrey Perron, USN and his wife Casney, Matthew Lachance, USN, Chloe Fasano and Alex Lachance, and her great-granddaughter Ariana.

Her funeral service will be Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Slatersville Congregational Church, 25 Green St. Slatersville. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Slatersville Congregational Church, 25 Green St. Slatersville, RI 02876.
