Charles Carr

WOONSOCKET – Charles Carr, 80, formerly of Phillip Avenue, passed away Sunday in Bayberry Commons Nursing Home, Pascoag. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire E. (Depot) Carr.

Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Newman and Dorothy (Mann) Carr. He resided in Woonsocket for the past 25 years, previously residing in Cumberland.

He was an avid NASCAR and U.S. Navy Blue Angels fan. Mr. Carr spent much of his time working around his house and on his cars. He also enjoyed listening to jazz music.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS Conway.

Mr. Carr was a boiler operator for many years, working at various businesses. His last place of employment was Zambarano Hospital, Pascoag.

He is survived by two children, David C. Carr and his wife Joanne of Cumberland, and Janice E. DeRoche of Pascoag. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Lindsay J. Carr-Garcia of Cumberland; Heather J. Cabral of San Antonio, Texas; Ryan J. DeRoche and Jaycob C. DeRoche both of Glocester, and also great-grandson Luis E. Garcia III of Cumberland. He was the brother of Dorothy Whitford of Cumberland, Norman Carr of South Carolina and Paul Carr of Cumberland. He was the brother of the late Newman Carr.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Charles' Life Celebration, beginning with Visiting Hours Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and continuing on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
