Charles E Moran Jr

WOONSOCKET - Charles E. Moran, Jr., 74, died October 21, 2015 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Berthiaume) Moran. Born in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Charles, Sr. and Aldea (Cartier) Moran.
A United States Air Force Veteran, Mr. Moran earned his Associates, Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration degrees from Bryant University, attending classes at night while working two jobs. Mr. Moran worked as an accountant and contract auditor for the U.S. Department of Defense and was an associate professor of accounting and business administration at the Community College of Rhode Island. Charles loved many sports, especially baseball. As a child, he was accidentally struck by a baseball bat while attending a game. He was treated at Children's Hospital in Boston, through the generosity of the Jimmy Fund, and during his hospitalization he was visited by his all-time hero, the great Ted Williams. Charles also loved playing billiards and dancing.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kathleen Moran Garland and her husband Dwayne Garland of Pelham, NH and Kristeen Torrey and her husband Michael Torrey of Franklin, MA; four grandchildren, Harry William and Ian James Garland, and Megan Lorraine and Hannah Lin Torrey, and his dear friend and companion, Carol Audette.
His funeral will be held Monday, October 26, 2015 at 9:30 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St, Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Rd., Cumberland. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3-5 PM.
