Craig Smith Obituary

EAST GREENWICH - Craig R. Smith, 64, of Cononchet Trail died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was for 26 years the beloved husband of Diane R. (Daley) Smith.
Born and raised in Pawtucket, a son of the late Kenneth G. and Doreen (Collier) Smith, he moved to East Greenwich in 2003. He was a graduate of Tolman High School.
He was a machinist, employed for the past 15 years at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division, Quonset Point.
Craig was a selfless, hard-working man. He loved his family deeply and his greatest desire in life was to do everything he could to make his family happy. Sailing was one of his favorite things to do. He also enjoyed working around his home and spending time with his dog, Princess. Craig also had a very strong passion for music. He was a faithful Christian and member of Grace Bible Church, Somerset, MA.
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons: Jason R. Smith of Providence, Craig M. Smith of Pawtucket and Nicholas L. Smith of Providence; three brothers: Kenneth Smith of Wakefield, Stephen Smith of Westport, MA and Mark Smith of Seekonk, MA; one sister: Pamela Smith of North Kingstown and seven grandchildren: Jadyn - Nicole, Cody, Cole, Hunter, Dominic, Peyton and Gannon. He was the brother of the late Paula Mekdsy and Bruce Smith.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 29 from 5:30 - 8:30 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 1 at 11:00 AM at Grace Bible Church, 802 Riverside Avenue, Somerset, MA.
Donations made in his memory to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, 8085 Saltsburg Road, Suite 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15239 (www.umdf.org) would be appreciated. Remembrances may be shared at carpenterjenks.com.
