Derek P. Jordan

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Derek P. Jordan, 40, of North Smithfield, died Thursday, January 29, 2015 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Jeannette I. (Gervais) Houle of Lincoln.
Derek was a 1992 graduate of North Smithfield High School and attended Mt. St. Charles Academy. He graduated with honors from New England Technical Institute with his electrician's degree, and had attended Roger Williams University. He went on to become a licensed electrician in both RI and MA and worked with many area businesses. Derek was a soldier of the cycle and a trained combat medic in the Army National Guard where he served for six years. He was involved with North Stars Hockey, Woonsocket. Derek played hockey, baseball and soccer for North Smithfield Youth Sports, North Smithfield High School and Mt. St. Charles Academy, and played soccer for the North Smithfield Youth Sports All Star team. He played both the piano and trombone. Derek enjoyed skating, snowboarding, paddle boarding and loved fixing things. His greatest joy was his daughter and his dog, Molly.
Besides his mother, Jeannette, he leaves his wife, Stacey Murphy-Jordan of No. Smithfield; his daughter, Alexandra M. Jordan of No. Smithfield; his brother, Michael Jordan and his wife Stephanie of No. Smithfield; his sister, Michelle Jordan of Woonsocket; his aunts, Jeanne Deeming and Pauline Sionni; his cousins, Nicole Giguere, Toni-Marie Carnevale, Katie Stines and Peter Emmons; and his wife's father, George Murphy.
His funeral was held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville. Burial followed in the parish cemetery.
