Diana C. Crooks

BELLINGHAM - Diana C. Crooks, 74, died peacefully at Brigham and Womens' Hospital on September 16, 2015. Diana who was a direct descendant of the Crooks Family for which Crooks Corner was named, lived in Bellingham for her entire life. She was a daughter of the late Catherine M. (Woodward) and Elmer W. Crooks.
Diana was a 1958 graduate of Bellingham High School and, she received her Bachelors' Degree in 1962 and her Master's Degree in 1966 from Bridgewater State College. She taught five years in Randolph, MA and for thirty-three years in Easton, MA public elementary schools.
At the time of her death, Diana was a Bellingham Town Common Trustee serving as treasurer, Secretary/Treasurer of the Wilcox Cemetery Corp., Corresponding Secretary of the Briggs Family Association and a member of Sigma Theta Phi Sorority. In 2005, she was presented the Bellingham Historical Commission Appreciation Award for her volunteer work in the museum and on the Crimpville Comments. She was a person of high integrity and a dedicated worker. Whatever task she assumed, she carried it out in as near perfection as possible.
Diana is survived by her three sisters; Shirley M. Hutson of Nashville, TN, Marcia A. Crooks of Bellingham, and Janet R. Hendrickson of West Dennis, MA. She was also a sister of the late Howard E. Crooks. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held Monday September 21, 2015 at 11 AM in the First Baptist Church, 39 Mechanic Street, Bellingham Center. Burial will follow in Wilcox Cemetery, Lake Street, Bellingham. Calling hours are Sunday afternoon from 2 - 5 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket.
