Eileen Rowland Obituary
Eileen is survived by her children, Walter H. Rowland, III of South Carolina, Susan Rowland of Pawtucket, Robert Rowland of Seekonk, MA, and Linda Elliott of Pawtucket, nine grandchildren and a brother John McGuinness of Florida.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Eileen to which relatives and friends are invited on Thursday, March 3rd at 10:00 AM in St. John Paul II Church, formerly The Church of St. Leo the Great, 697 Central Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter RI. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. For directions and guest book signatures, please visit www.manningheffern.com.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, R.I. 02904 in Mrs. Rowland's memory.

Buddy, Bobby, Susan, & Linda, I am sorry for the loss of your mother, who was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Much of my childhood was spent being sat by Aunt Eileen and Aunt Mary while my parents worked and I will never forget their kindness.

I am very sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Eileen was a good friend. I had many discussions with her during our time at TI, both formal and informal. We quizzed each other daily with trivia questions.
The question I remember most was concerning an old song, "Rum and Coca Cola". I was coming to work one morning and heard that Morey Amsterdam, of "The Dick Van Dyke Show", had written the song made famous by the Andrews Sisters during WWII. So I had my question for Eileen for that day and when I got to work I immediately went to her and asked
"Who wrote the song "Rum and Coca Cola?".
She looked straight at me and said "I don't know who wrote it, but I do know it wasn't Morey Amsterdam!".
I asked her how she could say this and she said "I read a book by the lawyer for the man from Trinidad who did write the song and Morey Amsterdam lost the case and he had to pay a large settlement".
That was the best answer to a Trivia question I ever heard.
Eileen was a wonderful lady and great friend. I am embarrassed to say I hadn't seen her in about 8 or 10 years even though she lived only a couple of miles from me.
I am sure your father Walter and Aunt Mary are welcoming her to heaven as I type this.

Buddy, Sue, Bobby, and Linda, I can never convey how very very sorry I am for your loss. When you lose a mother like Aunt Eileen, the pain is so deep it is hard to go on. I pray you can find solace in your wonderful memories. Love to you all.
