Ernest G. Collamati

1922 - 2022

FRANKLIN - Ernest G. Collamati, 99, of Franklin, MA passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 at Milford Regional Medical Center. He is the beloved husband of the late Germaine J. (Rondeau) Collamati.

Born in Woonsocket, RI on Fulton Street on March 22, 1922, he is the fifth son of the late Arduino and Juliette (Richard) Collamati. He is the loving father of Roger L. Collamati of Franklin, MA, Robert A. Collamati and his wife, Mara of Webster, MA and Ernest M. Collamati and his wife, Mary Susan of Harrisville, RI. He leaves his cherished grandchildren, Derek M. Collamati and his wife, Kelly, Melissa M. Reddy and her husband, Ryan, and Kevin R. Collamati, and great-grandchildren Mary-Olivia Germaine Collamati and Eamon J. Reddy. He is the brother of Louis L. Collamati, his twin sister Helene R. Getty, Juliette Y. Chamberland and the late Joseph E. Collamati, Sr., Albert E. Collamati, Lucien E. Collamati, Romeo A. Collamati, and Cecilia M. Baisley. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Collamati was raised in Bellingham and spent most of his adult life in Franklin. He was a graduate of Norfolk County Agricultural School Class of 1940. He worked as a toolmaker and surface grinder at Taft Pierce during World War II. He also worked for his brother Lucien at Collamati Woodworking. He started working for Marcoux Chevrolet as parts manager and service manager at Normandin Chevrolet until retiring.

He loved playing golf, and one of his happy accomplishments was making a "hole in one" in his 80's. He also enjoyed polka dancing and festivals, deep sea fishing, traveling and loved his cats and birds. He will be greatly missed.

Services for his family and extended family will be held on Thursday, February 3rd. Calling hours are from 12 to 1 pm. with a service to follow at Cartier's Funeral Home. Burial will be at St Jean-Baptiste Cemetery, Wrentham Rd. Bellingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ernest G. Collamati may be mailed to: Norfolk County Agricultural School Alumni Association, Attention: Red Morse, 400 Main Street, Walpole, MA 02081. Donations will be appreciated.
