Florida F. "Marie" Bishop

BLACKSTONE - Florida F. "Marie" (Chevalier) Bishop, 86, of Blackstone, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 in Oakland Grove Nursing and Rehab Center, Woonsocket. She was the partner of the late Edna Paul and the wife of the late Roswell E Bishop Sr. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late John and Clementine (Van Heck) Chevalier.

Mrs. Bishop worked as a personal manager for the former Bancroft Sporting Goods, Woonsocket, retiring in 1992. She previously worked for Uniroyal, Woonsocket, Waters Associates, Milford; and for Hasbro as a production foreman. Florida was a former member of the Northern R.I. Personnel Executive Club, a former Girl Scout leader, a Red Cross first aid instructor, and a member of the Blackstone Seniors.

She is survived by her son, Roswell Bishop Jr., and his wife Jane of Gales Ferry, Conn.; her daughter, Madeleine Bishop, and her wife Kim, of Woonsocket; her stepdaughter, Susan Verrier of Woonsocket; her stepson, Richard Paul, and his wife Laura of North Smithfield; her brother, Alfred Bureau Sr., and his fiancée, Marcia Cyak of Blackstone; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Gagnon.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Blackstone Senior Center, 15 St. Paul St., Blackstone MA 01504.
