Freda Fine Obituary
Born in Millville MA, Freda was the youngest child of the late Robert and Lena (Kondy) Schafer and was raised on the Schafer Dairy Farm in Bellingham MA. She attended Dean Junior College prior to marrying Ernest H. Fink, with whom she shared 3 children.
Freda was the heart of the home for her family. The children were all born in Framingham MA where the family lived for 20 years. During this time, she became a life member of Hadassah, and supported her children's interests by serving as a Cub and Girl Scout Leader, amongst other positions and roles that allowed her children to flourish. The family relocated to York PA, in 1973, and then to the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton area in 1977. After moving to a condominium, Freda served for several years as Association President. She also served for 25 years as a hospital volunteer in the Lehigh Valley. More recently, Freda resided at the Lutheran Community at Telford, where she enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards and games, and teaching Mah Jongg.
She is survived by her son, Stuart Fine and his wife, Sandra, of Ambler PA; her daughter Robyn Gross, husband, Joseph, and granddaughter Sarah, of Nazareth PA; daughter-in-law Karen Fine of Woonsocket RI, and numerous nieces and nephews. Freda was predeceased by her son Lawrence, and her two siblings: Morton Schafer and Ethel Whitman.
A brief service will be held for the immediate family at the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket RI and followed by a private burial in B'nai Israel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or any charity of the contributor's choice.

My name is Kathy Dancs, and I was a good friend of Freda. I just found out that she passed away. I am so sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. She was a very nice lady. We use to bowl together at the Allentown Rose Bowl. Her and I would talk on the phone occasionally. I will miss her.

I would like to speak for Tal Kramer who is no longer with us. He was an avid cyclist, and Freda loved to take walks.
When the winter weather made those activities impossible, they would go to the gym and work out together. They enjoyed many pleasant conversations; and Tal referred to Freda as his “workout buddy” and “one classy lady”!

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Freda. Freda was our Mah Jongg teacher and we spent many hours playing, both in Bethlehem and Telford. We will truly miss not seeing her again. Please accept our condolences. Freda was a wonderful person. She will be missed for a long time.

To the family of Freda Fine
I live at Southland Condominiums.That´s how I met Freda. We instantly became close friends.
That was over twenty years ago.
I missed her dearly when she moved to Telford.
We talked on the phone every week. I will miss her phone calls!
She was the right person to talk to when I needed good advice. She was like a second Mother to me.
She was a excellent baker and cook! She shared
numerous recipes with me.
She was a wise women that I shall never forget!
My condolence goes out to her entire family,
especially Robyn, Sarah and Stuart.

Freda was our neighbor for a year and a half at Lutheran Community at Telford. We shared our talents of homemade baking with frequent exchanges of goodies. She loved her gardens of flowers and always gave guidance to us on our neighboring garden of herbs and vegetables. Early in the morning she was up for her walks in the hall or around the perimeter of the Meadows complex. "I have to do it," she'd say and reference her heart health. Whenever holidays rolled around, she would talk about her family delightedly. Freda was resilient. We will miss her smile and inimitable spirit! May you all live a long time so you can remember her life and love of you~ Russ and Judy Miller

I am so sorry to read of Freda´s passing. I have very fond memories of Freda´s time as a volunteer at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown and Bethlehem. She was always so kind to me and a friend to the other volunteers she worked with. I will always remember her kindness when my mother passed away many years ago. Please accept my sincerest sympathy.
