George Bourque Obituary

WOONSOCKET - George D. Bourque 93, of Mendon Rd. died January 6, 2017. He was the husband of the late Grace L. (Dubois) Bourque. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late George and Dolores (Desjarlais) Bourque. George was an automobile salesman for Marcoux and Normandin Chevrolet for twenty two years before retiring in 1986. He served in the US Navy aboard the LST 375 during WWII. He was a lifetime member of the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks, a member of the St. Joseph Veteran Association, the DAV #12, Precious Blood Senior Citizens, St. Joseph Sr. Citizens, and Woonsocket Senior Citizens Center.
George is survived by two granddaughters Stacey Pettella of Saunderstown, and Kelly Morris of Lincoln; two great grandchildren Nicholas and Jennifer; two sisters Frances Benetti of Cumberland and Grace Gould of Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two daughters Elaine Bourque Vanasse, and Cynthia Bourque, and siblings Gerard and Raoul Bourque, Josephine Cartier, Minodore Rainville, Melda LaBon Bousquet, Gabrielle Dolinski, and Rita Gregoire.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. The family will begin receiving guests at 10:00 AM at church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of your choice in his memory would be appreciated. In the early 1950s George and Grace lived in the apartment above us. George was always about the happiest man we ever knew. He always had a smile and a good word for we kids. To us he was always Uncle George. Even almost 70 years later George's passing brings tears to my eyes.
