Gerard R. Lavallee

CUMBERLAND - Gerard R. Lavallee, 72, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Providence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Madeline (Chevrette) Lavallee, and they had been married for the past 53 years.

Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Conrad and Bertha (Despins) Lavallee. He resided in Cumberland for most of his life. He was a part-time resident of North Port, Fla.

He was a United States Coast Guard, Vietnam Era veteran.

Mr. Lavallee was a truck driver for Proline Trucking, Messier Trucking and Delforno Trucking for many years. He was also self-employed.
Jerry loved to frequent antique car shows, was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan, loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his four-legged grandchild Boo.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Brenda A. Migneault, and her husband Normand, of Lincoln; Barbara A. Lavallee of Lincoln; Bonnie A. Sigui of Cumberland; Tracy A. Dingley, and her husband Michael, of North Port, Fla.; his brother, Conrad Lavallee of The Villages, Fla.; his sister, Lucille Landry, of North Providence; his nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Gerard R. Lavallee, Jr. and brother of the late Emile Lavallee, Therese Tondreau, Roland Lavallee, Eva Trahan, Rose Souve and Leo Lavallee.

A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday with Visiting Hours from 5 to 8 p.m. in the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Jude Church, Front Street, Lincoln. Burial with military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
