Janet Pinkerton-Russo Obituary

WOONSOCKET - Janet Marie Pinkerton-Russo, 64, returned to God unexpectedly on November 6, 2015. Jan passed peacefully at her home in Woonsocket, with her husband of twenty six years Albert Paul Russo by her side.
Jan was an extraordinarily talented fine artist, and graduated from both Carnegie-Mellon University and Ivy School of Art, both in Pittsburg, PA, where she was raised. Perhaps her finest accomplishment is her painting which resides in the Vatican, Rome, Italy. Her personal mentor was Donal McLaughlin of Washington, DC, where Jan lived for many years. She designed the iconic flag of the United Nations in New York.
Jan was endlessly devoted to her love for all cats, particularly Misty, Tommy, and Tsansu. A brilliant woman, she was a selfless helper to persons in need, a trait she shared with her Episcopal priest grandfather, her beloved Aunt Marion, and her precious grandmother, all of the Pittsburgh area. In addition to her faithful husband, Jan is survived by her beloved brother David Pinkerton, her wonderful father James Pinkerton, her step-daughter Samantha Spector and her step grandchildren of Jupiter FL, and two nieces.
Her private funeral with Mass of Christian Burial was held November 16, 2015 in Holy Family Church, Woonsocket, with committal services following in St. John The Evangelist Cemetery in North Smithfield. Arrangements were under the direction of Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home.
