WOONSOCKET - Jeanne-Mance (Pierel) Soucy, 97, passed away peacefully surrounded by
family on
July 1, 2025. She was welcomed into heaven by
her beloved husband,
the late Jean-Paul Soucy, and her cherished sons, Jean-Charles Soucy and Marc Soucy. She was born in Woonsocket, RI to Emile B. and Emma (Fafard) Pierel. She spent the majority of her life raising her six children. She then moved to Florida and lived out the remainder of her life in the sunshine state. She had a very creative spirit and took to hobbies such as oil painting but was most passionate about all things sewing, including embroidery and quilting. If it could be made out of fabric, chances are she made it. You could often times find her with a needle and thread in her hand or sitting at a sewing machine. Above all else, she was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, memere, and friend and cherished all her family, near and far.
She leaves behind four loving daughters that stopped at nothing to assure her happiness; Pierrette O'Brien and her husband John of Fort Myers, FL, Paulette LaPrade and her husband Arthur of Foster, RI, Ruth-Anne Pouliot and her husband Michael of Naples, FL, Rosemarie Rayos and her husband Leon of Woonsocket, RI and loving daughter-in-law Lorraine Soucy of Uxbridge, MA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Michael Soucy of Chicago, IL, Daniel Soucy of Uxbridge, MA, Thomas Soucy of Uxbridge, MA, Matthew Soucy of Harpswell, ME, Peter Pouliot of Cape Cod, MA, Jill Petrin of Estero, FL, Erica Belsky of Foster, RI, Aaron LaPrade of Glocester, RI, Amelia and Hanna Rayos of Woonsocket, RI. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and sons, she is also reunited with her late siblings Emile R. Pierel, Ruth Pierel Phillips, Marcel Pierel, Andre Pierel, Bernard Pierel, Adrien Pierel, Gabrielle Blanchette, and Gertrude Marchand.
It is with sadness that we lay her to rest with her late husband but know her legacy will always live on in the hearts and minds of her loving and devoted family members. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on September 13, 2025 in celebration of her birthday, at 9:30 AM at Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. The family will receive guests at 9:00 AM at Church. Burial in the RI Veteran Memorial Cemetery will be private.
