Jennie Galas

UXBRIDGE - Jennie Galas, 79, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, after being stricken ill.

She is survived by her two sisters Adeline Desmarais of Uxbridge and Carolina Chiechanowski of Chicago, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by four brothers, John Galas, Joseph Galas, Stanley Galas and Frank Galas; and two sisters, Mary Galas and Sophie Wojcik. Born in Uxbridge on April 3, 1937, she was the daughter of John and Suzanne (Krucovicin) Galas and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of the Uxbridge High School, Class of 1955.

Jennie was currently working, owning and operating Jen's Beauty Salon in Woonsocket for the past 28 years, often travelling to her clients' homes. She was a member of the Hairdresser Association of R.I. She was very close with her family, caring for her mother, and helping raise nephews and nieces. She was also proud of her Polish heritage. Jennie was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church, where she once taught CCD.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Road, Uxbridge, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 71 Mendon St. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
