John L. Swanton

NORTH SMITHFIELD - John L. Swanton, 78, of North Smithfield passed away on July 24, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.He was the loving husband of 60 years to Carol A. (Cote) Swanton. He was born in Boston, MA, son of the late Patrick & Margaret (Mogan) Swanton.
John worked for Print Guard in Millbury, MA from where he retired, he also worked Agfa Graphics. He lived most of his life in North Smithfield, he was a member of the Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club and the Woonsocket Health & Racquetball Club. He enjoyed running and competed in marathons.
Besides his wife he is survived by his sons, John L. Swanton of North Smithfield, Michael L. Swanton of England and Matthew L. Swanton of North Smithfield, grandchildren, Zachary, Elijah, Julia, Nicholas and Jeremy Swanton. He is also survived by his sisters, Ellen Hajema and Patricia Mullaney.
He was preceded in death by his son Patrick L. Swanton, sisters, Margaret Trainor and Catherine Jackson and brother, Paul Swanton.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday at 12pm in the Egidio DiPardo & Sons Funeral Home, 75 Harris Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. Calling hours are prior to the service from 10am-12pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Northern RI Animal Hospital, 152 School St., Forestdale, RI 02824.
