Joseph R. Richer

Woonsocket - Joseph R. Richer 90, of Bayberry Rd. died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in the Holiday Retirement Home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Doris (Boisvert) Richer. Joseph and Doris were happily married for 68 years. Born in Woonsocket, son of the late Alfred and Dora (Toupin) Richer Jr. Mr. Richer worked for Leesona Corporation as a draftsman for 25 years, then moved to Pfizer as a technical writer until his retirement.
He was a United States Army Veteran serving in WWII. He was active in the Boys Scouts of St. Agatha's Parish. He was CYO man of the year in l971, and was a volunteer at Landmark Heart Center and the National Heritage Corridor. Besides his beloved wife Doris, he is survived by his three children, Diane and her husband Paul Mathewson of Woonsocket, Charles Richer of Lincoln, and Susan Mathewson of Woonsocket. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Paul Richer and brother to the late Lucien H. Richer. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, January 18th from 9-10 AM follow by a Memorial Service at 10 AM in the S.DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd., Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial with Military Honors will be in The RI Veterans Cemetery Exeter, RI.
