Lincoln Barber III Obituary

MILLVILLE - Lincoln E. Barber III 66, the loving husband of Wendy (Sands) Barber, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022. Lincoln was born in Newton, MA, a son of Carolyn (Cooke) Barber of Sherborn, MA and the late Lincoln Barber Jr.

He had a lifelong career in carpentry and was the owner of LEB III Construction & Fine Woodworking. Lincoln was community minded and served on many municipal boards and committees in the Town of Millville since moving to the town in 1985. He also served as a member of, and for a time president of, the Chestnut Hill Meeting House & Cemetery Association, for many years. A Vietnam era veteran, he was a Veterans Service Officer in the towns of Millville and Auburn.

In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by his children who loved and admired him: Lincoln E. Barber IV of Buffalo, NY, and Corinne Barber and her partner Sake Chan of Cranston, RI, his brother Henry C. Barber & nephew Scott Barber of Conway, NH, his sister-in-law Nancy Barber wife of the late J. Todd Barber, his sister-in-law Lavinia Brown and husband David Brown of Mashpee, MA, and nephew Robert Scott & family of Charlotte, NC.

While Lincoln's contributions and successes within his community and career are many, he will be remembered most for his honesty, his integrity, his curiosity, his uncompromising commitment to being better, and the boundless love and caring he showed to everyone he called friend. We are better people for having him as a part of our lives and are privileged to call him our husband, father, brother, son, and friend. We know that his larger than life spirit will be with us always.

A private memorial service will be held at Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, RI. A celebration of life is being planned at a later date for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lincoln's memory to the Redwood Forest at www.savetheredwoods.org.

Lincoln was a longtime customer of my business and through the years I found him to be a really interesting character who had a lot of varying interests. Due to his size when I first met him I was intimidated but found him a smart unassuming guy. The guys at Marathon Tool will miss him.

I first met Lincoln in 2008 and over the years had gone to the range with him a few times. I enjoyed visiting him at his barn and seeing the various things he was up to. I regret not taking him up on the striper fishing years ago. I told our son about him and said one day we would meet up again. So sorry that it will have to be in a better place.
I always chuckle when I think of one visit he made here with Lincoln who whacked his head on the low beam in my cellar. I can still hear the thud. Rest peacefully my friend.

Going to miss Lincoln very much, he was a great friend, always there for us if we ever needed anything. Going to miss our times in the garage having great conversation, he would always tell me that I had the coldest beer around. He was a great person. I want Wendy and family know that we are there for them if we can do anything we are a call away.
