Lorraine D. Blanchette

WOONSOCKET - Lorraine D. (Tremblay) Blanchette, 82, of Woonsocket, died peacefully in her sleep on December 13, 2016 at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Lionel Blanchette to whom she was married for over fifty years. A lifelong Woonsocket resident, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ella (Riquier) Tremblay.
She was employed by the North Smithfield school system for over twenty years as a food service worker. Lorraine was also a founding member and parishioner of St. Agatha's Church in Woonsocket, where The Blanchette's were awarded Family of the Year in 1993. A dedicated snow bird, she loved to spend each winter in Vero Beach, but would never leave before the holidays in order to spend them with her family. She possessed an abounding energy and desire to enjoy life to her final moments. Lorraine had the ability to make friends and bring joy wherever life led her. She was a perfectionist to the end and was her happiest when she was helping others, a task was never too small nor was she ever too tired. Even when her mind began to fail, Lorraine displayed a selfless devotion to her family. At the end of her life she rarely said "goodbye", but rather, "I love you".
Lorraine is survived by three sons, Charles Blanchette and his wife Louise, Marc Blanchette and his wife Amy, all of North Smithfield, and Dennis Blanchette and his wife Dianne of Woonsocket; a brother, Laurent Tremblay and his partner, Karin Morse, of Providence; as well as ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM in St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Old River Road, Manville. Calling hours are Friday from 4 - 8 PM in the funeral home.
