Luce G. Bernier

1931 - 2016

BLACKSTONE - Luce G. (Lanoue) Bernier, 84, of Blackstone, MA passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Landmark Medical Center. She is the beloved wife for 43 years of Marcel Bernier and the late Arthur "Archie" Armstrong. Born in Burlington, VT on September 28, 1931, she is the daughter of the late Valmore and Albina (Dextraze) Lanoue. She is the loving mother of Ronald Armstrong and his wife, Emilie of Sharon, MA and Linda G. Theroux and her husband, Robert of East Greenwich, RI. She leaves her cherished grandchildren Audra Metivier of Surprise, AZ, Kayla Armstrong of Brighton, MA, Jonathan Armstrong of Uxbridge, MA and her great-granddaughter Riley Armstrong, and many nieces and nephews. Luce is the last of 13 children and was affectionately known as "The Legend".
A resident of Blackstone for 43 years, formerly of Manville, RI and spent summers at their home at Matunuck Beach, RI.
Luce was very active in Lincoln, RI Politics, she was Past President of the Manville American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the St. James CYO Manville where she was one of the first adult advisors.
Devoted to her family, Luce will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 13th at 9:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Theresa Church, 630 Rathbun St., Blackstone, MA. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery, Manville, RI. Visiting hours are on Friday, August 12th from 6PM to 8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Luce G. Bernier may be made to Catholic Charities, Attn: Home Care, 9 Spring Street, Whitinsville, MA 01588 would be appreciated.
