David J. Hoard, 77, of Lincoln, passed away January 26, 2026 in Kent County Hospital. He was the husband of the late Judith Hoard, and he is survived by his beloved partner of the last 25 years, Cathy Finelli. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Ernest and Lillian (Walsh) Hoard.
David was a man of faith. He was a Providence College graduate where he obtained his Bachelor of Social Work. He went on to work for the State of Rhode Island as a social worker for over thirty years. David was an avid reader and New England sports fan, especially for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. In his spare time he enjoyed hiking and trips to the beach.
He is also survived by his daughters, Lisa Owen and her husband Scott of Canton, GA, and Traci Sutter and her husband Michael of Smyrna, GA; his sister, Elizabeth Hughes and her husband Dennis of Providence; four grandchildren, Scotty, Campbell, Charlie, and William; and four nephews, Daniel, Charles, Thomas, and Michael Hughes, along with their families; and many cousins. He was the brother of the late Gerald, Helen, and Margaret Hoard.
His funeral will be held Friday, January 30, 2026 beginning with visitation from 9-11 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12PM in St. Ambrose Church, 191 School St, Albion. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pawswatch Community Cat Center, P.O. Box 7005, Warwick, RI 02887
