Everett "Dwight" Hoard, age 70, of Milner, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital.

Dwight was born in Griffin, Ga. on November 12, 1955. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, R.M. and Mattie Jewel Gunter; mother, Marguerite Gunter Kelley and stepfather Willie Thomas Kelley, Sr.; father, John Robert Hoard, Sr.; brothers, John Robert "Billy" Hoard, Jr, and Willie Thomas "Tommy" Kelley, Jr.

Dwight began working as a machine fixer at Spalding Knitting Mills in 1972 and continued to be a dedicated employee there for over 20 years. He earned the title of lead fixer before moving on to work at Keadle Lumber Company in Thomaston, Sigvaris in Peachtree City, and Cardinal Health in McDonough. In the last few years of work, he drove 18-wheelers for a company in Thomaston.

He attended Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Dwight loved singing, dancing, flower and vegetable gardening, collecting movies, going to flea markets, and taking care of his dogs.

Survivors include his son, Jeffrey Hoard (Alisa); daughter, Shannon Hoard Phillips (Tyler Phillips): grandchildren, Nicholas Hoard, Braxton Hoard, Kinslee Ann Craven, MaKenna Craven, and Brenden Phillips; great grandson, Lennox Hoard; sister, Pamela "Pam" Kelley Ray (Alan); sister-in-law Cathy Kelley; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Everett Dwight Hoard will be conducted Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM in Westwood Gardens with Reverend Debby Stikes officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the service hour at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff and medical team at Wellstar Spalding Hospital, especially the ICU, for their skilled and compassionate care.
